Explore Georgia is a comprehensive digital travel guide devoted to presenting the cultural, historical and natural heritage of the Republic of Georgia. The platform consolidates thousands of points of interest — from the medieval fortresses of Kakheti and the rock-hewn monasteries of Samtskhe-Javakheti to the alpine landscapes of Svaneti and the Black Sea resorts of Adjara — within a single, coherent information architecture. Each entry is organised by region, city and category (fortresses, palaces, churches, museums, archaeological sites, viewpoints) and complemented by curated routes designed to highlight the historical depth and geographic diversity of the country. Engineered with a multilingual interface (English, Georgian, Russian), structured metadata and SEO-oriented architecture, the project offers a refined research and planning experience for international visitors, scholars and local travellers alike, while maintaining strong organic visibility in Google for travel-related queries about Georgia.

Challenge

Information about Georgia’s extensive cultural and natural heritage remains dispersed across institutional websites, regional portals, social media and travel blogs. Visitors and local audiences alike struggle to discover lesser-known fortresses, churches, museums and itineraries, while existing resources rarely offer adequate multilingual support, consistent taxonomy or modern search capabilities tailored to the realities of Georgian tourism.

Solution

Explore Georgia consolidates the country’s points of interest within a unified, multilingual catalogue underpinned by consistent taxonomy, structured metadata and editorial curation. Each location is enriched with descriptive content, classifications and regional context, while the interface enables intuitive search by city, region and category. Performance, accessibility and SEO-oriented architecture are integrated to deliver a research-grade yet user-friendly experience.

Process

The project commenced with a rigorous information-architecture analysis, defining taxonomies for regions, cities, places and categories. A content model was subsequently designed to support three languages — English, Georgian and Russian — with parallel SEO fields, structured data and canonical URLs. Development proceeded iteratively, with continuous attention to performance optimisation, accessibility standards, multilingual indexing and editorial workflows enabling scalable, high-quality content production.
